Enabling a greener future

On this Earth Day, we encourage everyone to think about their impact on the environment. At Starship Technologies, we are proud to be at the forefront of sustainable last-mile delivery, pioneering battery-powered robotic services that are good for your business and the planet.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident in our service areas around the world, reducing the number of cars and delivery vans traveling to and from urban supermarkets and providing choice for U.S. students. This has a significant impact on reducing CO2 emissions. Choose battery-powered robotic delivery over traditional food delivery methods.

To put our efforts into perspective, our robots now have over 6 million miles. This equates to 645 trips from the UK to Australia, or his over 2,300 trips from New York to Los Angeles, or his 244 trips around the world. By using battery-powered robots instead of traveling by car, the customer reduced her CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by approximately 1.7 million kg. This equates to a passenger flying his 6,792 hours on the plane.

But we don’t stop there. We are constantly looking for ways to further reduce our environmental impact and make our operations more sustainable. Where possible, we rely on renewable energy providers to charge our robots and are currently experimenting with different charging methods and installation processes to increase efficiency while reducing energy consumption.

But sustainability isn’t just good for the environment, it’s good for business too. Let’s get real here. Bottom line concerns are a major drag on companies’ efforts to update their operations toward more sustainable solutions. A 2023 study by McKinsey & Company found that over the past five years, products that claimed environmental and social benefits saw an 8% increase in cumulative growth over those that didn’t. Customers value sustainability, and they back it up by shifting their buying patterns to sustainable products. In conclusion, the report notes that “it is a moral imperative for consumers and businesses alike to understand and address these social and planetary impacts as part of their purchasing decisions and ESG-related actions.” are doing. Product label claims can be an important part of fulfilling this moral obligation if they represent true and meaningful environmental and social activities. ”

At Starship, we are proud to help our partners achieve their sustainability goals and commitments. Since last year, we’ve partnered with delivery giants like Grubhub to give students across the country the opportunity to have their favorite meals delivered in an environmentally responsible way while making their daily lives on campus more convenient. I was. This is a win-win for the university, students and most importantly the environment. Similarly, we are helping our grocery partners step up their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint by offering on-demand, battery-powered store-to-home delivery in cities around the world.

We are also passionate about encouraging others to take action towards a greener future. The story of our employee, Andrew Tucker, is a great example. Two years ago, Andrew and his wife donated a car to National Public Radio as part of their vehicle donation program. So they funded his NPR to create a local broadcast that included several of Andrew’s favorite shows like “Morning Edition,” “The World,” and “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me.” On the other hand, I got rid of unnecessary cars. For them, owning a car was an unnecessary headache, and donating a car matched their desire to live a greener life. Andrew says working for Starship has inspired him. “I feel like my values for environmental protection are reflected in his Starship goals…I definitely want less cars on the roads in the future. We are starting to

We encourage everyone to take action towards a more sustainable lifestyle this Earth Day. Whether it’s donating a car you don’t need, practicing more mindful consumption, reducing your energy consumption, or simply choosing to walk or bike instead of driving, every small step makes a difference. By working together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and the planet.
